The Nelson Wine Region is found on the northern tip of the South Island. benefits from high sunshine hours, a sheltered, moderating coastal climate and free-draining, semi-fertile soil.

The vineyards in this region enjoy a sunny climate that is moderated by constant sea breezes from the Tasman Sea. The warm summers are followed by long, dry autumns that make for an extended growing season.

Long renowned for it’s bountiful crops and orchards, the Nelson Region was settled in the 1840's with early settlers planted the areas first grape vines alongside other horticultural crops.

The region produces outstanding Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and aromatics, as well as an impressive mix of emerging varieties.

Nelson is not well known as a wine region outside of New Zealand, and accounts for just over two percent of the nation's viticultual land. Along with the aromatic varieties, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are widely planted in Nelson, producing wines that are more elegant in style than their Marlborough counterparts.

The Series 1 posters were first published in 2012
